We recently purchased the Paint Crew and our intent was to spray paint our gazebo. Since my husband and I are not the brightest stars in the sky when it comes to instructions – I would say that overall the instruction information that is provided with the Paint Crew could have been written in an unknown foreign language since purging and priming mean about the same. After reading over the instructions – ease of assembly is commendable, we decided to fill-er-up and begin our project. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the nozzle on right and what sounded like a nice start ended up a disaster. Every area that paint could fly – was coated including the floor. So we decided to call the “genius” our handy son-in law who has put sunrooms together and is very adept at handling power tools. Before we could even begin to figure out what we did wrong, the clean up took care of a good 3 hours. Now, we prime and purge and have the alotted pressure ready to go, and kaboom – the nozzle started leaking and because the prime was set – I practically threw my body into the bin just to get it off. Needless to say – I’m stuck – can’t take it back cause all those flat shiny places are difficult to clean. Hey – if you know how to use paint sprayers, go for it. I just hope you live nearby and are spraying white – With brushes that gazebo will just have to take longer. The painter is clean and back in the box – I’m hoping someone will want to borrow it and can figure out how to get it to work. After reading the comments on this site – it might just be that we only used one gallon of paint. You might say we we doomed from the start, since it works better full. OH WELL -

The sprayer started out fine but quickly turned into a disaster. It did not respond to repeated cleaning. It would have been easier to brush and roll. I use an HVLP sprayer but I wanted something that would do a larger quantity than just a quart. I think this sprayer is worthless!

I bought this unit from Costco. I hoped to save time in painting a garage. I found the unit rediculously over packed requiring way too much time to unpack and set up. It is jammed with hard to remove plastic plugs and paper which makes set up time consuming. After setting it up, searching for the stupid drain valve that one must hit twice before using, I turned it on and all I got was a stream and not a spay of paint. I switched from prime to spay a couple of time and it still would not work. It stalled everytime I switched to spray. At this time I was one hour into the project and no paint was on the garage. I decided to place this product where I put all my worthless tools. Into the dumpster. With gas at $3.00 a gallon I wasn’t about to drive 170 miles back to Costco to return it. If and when I want to buy another paint sprayer I will make sure it is engineered in Germany or Japan. I buy tools to save time not waste it.

I had in the past tried a few other Wagner products. 3 to be exact and each one died before the job was finished. In the past I was repainting the inside of an apartment and it would get clogged or just die but it did a majority of it so I was happy.
I have moved on to a house and after speaking with some people at the local Home Depot and Lowes and they heard only good things about this I decided to try it again. I bought the reconditioned model from Amazon and when I took it out of the box and set it up it all worked very well. It looked brand new as a matter of fact, all nice and clean parts in their own bags. I had about 1/2 the house taped and ready to go so it began. I noticed that on the 3rd gallon or so the spray pattern was getting a little light but kept going as this thing put out a fair amount of paint. The 5th gallon down I only put in another one as that was all I needed to finish the 2nd story part I was at and about half way through it the thing just stopped. I was sure I blew a fuse or something but nada. Tried other plugs, nada.
The machine just stopped working. I still had pressure in the hose so I sprayed it out and after tinkering around with it could not get it to work again.
I don’t know how I missed the other bad reviews on here. People either love it or hate it and I am the latter. I should have known better to trust Wagner again but I figured if I could even get 1/2 the house done it would be a good deal. I am left with a $115 paint tray that is utterly useless. I can’t even clean the unit or the hose as I can’t get the motor to turn on at all…
I will try the warranty option or returning it but Wagner needs to stop making things that are complete POS’s. 5 gallons, ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!? I will NEVER purchase another Wagner product ever again.
