This is a nice little set of paint brushes for toddlers and older children. The brushes seem to hold the paint well and the handles come in 4 primary colors. My toddlers learned to match the paint brush handles to the right paint containers, so its a great teaching tool in that sense and does prevent the paints from getting mixed up.

The only complaint I have is that I took the word “Medium” Paint brush to mean that the bristles were medium sized. However it turns out that the “handles” are what is medium sized. So if you plan on having your 2-3 year old use these just beware of that fact. It will take some practice to get the pincer grasp correctly for toddlers, especially boys. Melissa and Doug do make a large and jumbo set in the same style. Overall it is a great set.

The medium paintbrushes are great for beginnig artists. My daughter likes to use them and they are durable. The brushes hold the paint well and the bristles the right size – not too thin, not too thick. The paintbrushes come in different colors, and my daughter also learned to be neat and match the paintbrushes with the right paint container so the paints do not get mixed-up and dirty.

I bought these for my 2yo daughter who loves to paint. We have many M&D toys and I figured these would be good for her to use. They aren’t bad per say, but I bought others at a local craft store that have held up better to her abuse. Plus when they arrived, the bristles were already messed up from the way they had been packaged. Overall they are decent brushes, but I will stick to the ones I can buy down the street for less money.

I was a little worried when I got these that I might need fatter ones for my toddler, but she does great with these! And, they take a LOT of abuse! She mashes them, paints concrete, all sorts of horrible things to them and they’re in great shape! Way to go Melissa & Doug!
